NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC defeated Allerton Bywater 30-16 in a tight Pennine League Championship One contest.
The York side remained in sixth place in the table after the White Rose Avenue victory, which was their second win in four games in the new-look league set-up.
Bywater forged ahead after eight minutes with an unconverted try, but the All Blacks levelled when Jack Sinclair powered his way through for a try.
The visitors regained the lead when Martin McTigue scored a converted try against his former club.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Jack Carling finished after good pressure from the All Blacks, with Liam Gargan converting.
Two minutes before the break, Steve Doswell crossed to give the All Blacks the lead with Gargan adding the extras.
On the stroke of half-time, Gargan added a penalty goal to give All Blacks a 16-10 lead.
The hosts stretched their lead five minutes after the break when Dean Smith collected a Gargan kick through, and Gargan added another penalty.
Bywater narrowed the gap with a converted try, but there was no way back as Adam Caddie scored a great individual try. He kicked over the top and the ball stopped for him to pick up and score, with Gargan converting.
New Earswick's man of the match was Jack Sinclair, backed up Carling and Gargan.
Second-placed Sherburn Bears remained in the promotion hunt with a 22-10 victory at Wakefield City in division four.
The Bears were down to their last 17 players and many of those on duty were carrying knocks from the previous week's battle against leaders Crofton Cougars.
The try scorers were Rhys Hughes, Antony Yates, Connor Jordan and Luke Wood, while Martin Leahy kicked three conversions.
The Elmet Driver Training man of the match award went to tough centre Nico Deville, who was excellent in attack and defence.
Second place went to half-back Yates, who had an excellent match with the boot and in defence, while third place was taken by centre Wood, who topped the tackle count with 37 tackles.
Selby Warriors suffered their fourth defeat in six matches in division four as they lost 12-8 at Farnley Falcons.
