HEWORTH rounded off their National Conference division two campaign on a high with a 48-6 conquest of Crosfields.

The win ensured a seventh-place finish for the Villagers after winning 11 and drawing one of their 22 games.

Heworth could even have posted more points only for an impressive opening half to be followed by a scrappy second period which ended fractiously.

Loose forward Luke Judson was Heworth's top performer closely followed by stand-off Chris Varley, while hooker Joe Murphy excelled in both attack and defence.

Crosfields broke the deadlock with a Mike Redmond penalty in the second minute for obstruction, but once Mike Welsh intercepted a looping Crosfields pass to run 40 yards and go under the posts - Jamie Richardson converting - Heworth dominated.

By half-time Heworth had posted a further 24 unanswered points. Welsh added a second try Sam Clark, while neat interplay between Dan Briggs and Leigh Rientoul enabled Chris Smith to cross.

Rientoul, Dan Briggs and Smith again all got over the try-line with Richardson adding a brace of conversions for a 30-2 half-time lead.

Within four minutes of the re-start Reintoul capitalised on an excellent charge by substitute forward Will Neary for Richardson to convert. Then Rientoul completed his hat-trick, Richardson obliging with the conversion.

Crosfields bagged a try in reply through Craig Harrison but it was a mere consolation as Jamie Wright sealed matters with a try after a good run. Richardson again kicked for a 48-6 score-line marred only by a sin-binning for Rientoul in the 68th minute for kicking the ball away.
