HEWORTH ARL Club's A' team got back on track in division three of the Yorkshire League with a comfortable 38-0 victory over Stanley Rangers A' at Elmpark Way.
Heworth's form, which had dipped in the last two games, re-surfaced in a fine team effort with Gary Watkinson opening the scoring with two tries which he converted to give the Villagers a 12-0 lead.
Stand-off Gareth Watson was the next to cross when he fielded a towering kick from Watkinson to crash over.
The try of the game came shortly before the break when man of the match Dave Varley fielded a kick on his own line and raced 40 metres before passing to the supporting full-back Richard Darling who finished under the posts for Watkinson to goal.
The Wakefield side came out strongly after the interval but were thwarted by a strong defence led by the players' man of the match Jake Humble and fellow youngsters Tom Speck, Carl Smith and Rich Rogers.
Darling showed his pace for his second touchdown after an elusive run to seal the game for Heworth. Further tries were added through skipper Marcus Allan and scrum-half Joe Murphy. Watkinson goaled both to finish an 18-point haul.
Heworth finish their league campaign on Saturday at Leeds against Milford Marlins in a game that could determine a play-off place.
