FORMER Selby Warriors amateur rugby league player Michael Williams has been selected for the BARLA Great Britain Under-21 squad to tour Russia next month.
The 20-year-old started playing rugby as an eight-year-old and progressed to open age rugby with the Selby club. He is also a former York Lokos player.
During the tour, Williams, who now plays for National Conference side Eastmoor Dragons, will be playing matches in Moscow and Kazan.
The former Brayton High School pupil, who plays at full-back, was also involved in athletics at county level.
Williams, an electrician with Riccall-based Wire Electrical, said: “I am looking forward to the trip very much. It will be a great experience.”
