RESULTS on Saturday could give an indication of who the frontrunners will be in this year’s RL Conference Yorkshire premier division.

That is the view of York Lokomotive spokesman Andy Starkey, whose side travel to Moorends Thorne aiming to be among the leaders after last week’s 70-4 opening win over early strugglers Haworth Park.

Other matches see Milford host Rotherham and East Leeds entertain Scarborough, all of whom could be title contenders.

Starkey said the Lokos, who should be at full strength, would travel with confidence but not complacency.

“This weekend’s fixtures could give an early indication as to who the top teams will be,” he said. “We were buoyed by last week’s performance, and we’ll come on stronger as a number of players needed to improve match fitness.

“Moorends have lost both games so far, albeit by close margins. I’m sure they’ll be a strong, physical team so we won’t take them lightly.”

The Lokos are again running coaches to away matches. They will meet at the Corner Pin pub, leaving at noon.

Pennine League division four champions Selby Warriors are in action again, away to Brotherton in the second game of the 2010 Selby Cup (2.30pm).

The Warriors, who comprehensively beat Sherburn in the first game, so have one foot in the final, have a full squad to pick from. Players are to meet at the school for 12.30pm.
