NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC will look to end a mixed season positively tomorrow when they face Selby Warriors in the York and District Accident Cup final at Heworth (7.30pm).
The Warriors are eyeing a trophy treble after their best term.
All Blacks, whose first team were relegated form the Pennine League premier division while their second team won promotion from division five, will look to keep the same squad – a mixture of first-teamers and reserves – that saw off Heworth in the semi-final but are without Nathan Tupaman and Carl Fernandez.
The Warriors, who shocked National Conference premier division club York Acorn – albeit not a first team – in the semi-finals, will be underdogs but will go into the match on a high.
They are Pennine League division four champions – their first-ever title – and are in next month’s Selby Cup final after a rare victory over Yorkshire League division one side Brotherton. They expect to travel tomorrow at full strength.
Scott Pearson, 16-year-old full-back Ben Harris (2), David Makin, Ben Pearson, Craig Askham and Gavin Lightowler scored tries as Selby beat Brotherton 36-20. Paul Berriman added four goals.
York Lokomotive will hope to have a stronger side available for Saturday’s RL Conference Yorkshire division trip to East Leeds, following defeat at Moorends Thorne last week.
