YORK Lokomotive ARLC go into tomorrow’s RL Conference Yorkshire division clash at leaders East Leeds boosted by an apparent return to form.

The Lokos crashed to previously winless Haworth Park a fortnight ago but last week beat second-placed Moorends Thorne Marauders 24-10.

A penalty by Arran Thompson was the only score in a first half dominated by defences but the second half was a different story.

Thorne quickly crossed through Chris Allen out wide, Ben Miller converting, but the Lokos equalised almost immediately when impressive young centre Ben Dent broke free and sent winger Luke Campbell over out wide.

On 50 minutes an astute kick from Tom Gargan resulted in the Thorne defence knocking on, and, from the scrum, full-back Dec Malarkey came into the line to score a trademark try. Gary Watkinson goaled for a 12-6 lead.

Then Thompson made a break and a quick play-the-ball had the Thorne defence on the back foot. Campbell passed to Dent, who in turn passed to Jim Mulroney to score on his debut.

Mulroney was again in the thick of the action with a barnstorming 40-metre run before passing to Campbell while being tackled, Campbell racing home.

Thorne scored a consolation try through former Doncaster player Wayne Green two minutes from time but the Lokos had the final say through Dent after good work by Wayne Foster and Thompson.

Kev Brayshaw was man of the match, with Karl Harton and Mulroney also starring.

The team bus tomorrow leaves the Corner Pin at noon. Supporters are welcome.
