A hat-trick by Bev Langan could not prevent York Ladies suffering their first defeat in the National Conference Women’s Plate Competition, losing 38-26 to Leeds Akkies.
Loose-forward Langan was first to react to collect her own kick-off and give York an immediate lead, centre Carly Hilton converting.
But Leeds hit back with five tries to lead 28-6 at the break.
The second half belonged to York, as sub prop Kay Rollinson and Langan both powered over, full-back Chelsea Moore collected a bomb to score, and player-of-the-match Langan completed her hat-trick. Impressive centre Hilton added two goals.
But Akkies put the game to bed.
York are now joint-second in their group and play Whinmoor this weekend.
