Heworth ARLFC expect to be ring-rusty if their National Conference division two match at Crosfields on Saturday escapes the wintry conditions.
The Villagers haven’t played since losing to Shaw Cross on November 20 and, with more snow and ice expected over the next couple of days, club chiefs are not confident they will be back in action this weekend.
Club spokesman Ken Sykes said: “It’s in the lap of the gods. Training has been difficult and, more recently, it has been more about weights.
“We use an all-weather pitch at York St John University and that has been cancelled because of the snow and ice on it.
“We will be a bit rusty but it has helped a few carrying knocks.”
Heworth ‘A’ host Ryhill Hammers in Unison division three.
Elsewhere, York Acorn are scheduled to play at third-placed Siddal in their bid to pull clear of the premier division basement, while their ‘A’ team host Milford Marlins ‘A’ in Unison division two.
New Earswick All Blacks, still topping division one east of the Pennine League, entertain Dearne Valley Bulldogs and All Blacks ‘A’ play Underbank Rangers in division four.
Selby Warriors, second in division three, have no game.
