New Earswick All Blacks ARLC ‘A’ let slip a 24-0 lead as they drew 24-24 at Undercliffe Wildboars in Pennine League division four.

The All Blacks looked in control at half-time against fellow strugglers Undercliffe, but the home side fought back and almost snatched a win at the death.

New Earswick took the lead with a superb solo try from skipper Ben Cooper, who chipped over the Wildboars defence and weaved his way to the line.

Winger Dean Smith then crossed for the first of his two tries and Nathan Tupman shrugged off the defence to go over, with Carl Fernandez converting.

Youngster Louis Pool finished off a good set of six for an unconverted try out wide and Smith grabbed his second, which was converted by Cooper.

The Wildboars scored three quick tries after the break and eventually levelled, before piling on the pressure in the closing stages.

Steve Perks picked up the man of the match award, while forward Wayne Foster was also in good form.

In division one east, New Earswick’s home clash with Ossett Trinity was postponed.
