Heworth ARLC hope to stage their first game at Elmpark Way in ten weeks when Ovenden visit in the National Conference League division two on Saturday.
The Villagers have been starved of home comforts since November 13 but, after being far from humiliated against Leigh East in the Challenge Cup first round last week, they are confident of marking their return with a victory.
Adam Jobling and Dave Douthwaite come into contention, otherwise it is expected to be a similar squad to that which performed bravely in the 58-6 defeat at Leigh.
Club spokesman Ken Sykes said: “We came away from that game with some pride and we have got to try to take that into this week’s game. I am sure we will do.
“They have picked up of late. They started the season pretty poorly and we got a draw when we went there. It is a game on paper where we have a chance of winning.
“We haven’t played at home since November 13 and that’s a long time to be away.
“It will be a similar team to last week although a couple of lads might be potentially on the way back.”
Ovenden picked up their third win of the campaign – clawing their way out of the re-election places for the first time this season and taking them above Heworth – when they beat Shaw Cross Sharks 30-18.
York Acorn and Milford Marlins will hope the weather doesn’t intervene this time as they try to polish off their Challenge Cup round one tie.
Last weekend’s game at Thanet Road was postponed because of a frozen pitch but, with conditions having warmed, club chiefs will expect Saturday’s clash to go ahead.
There is plenty of incentive for the victors as well, with a home tie, albeit against Acorn’s premier division rivals Skirlaugh, waiting in round two.
Co-operative Championship and Championship One clubs join the competition in the next round.
