Selby Warriors ARLC maintained their title hopes in Pennine League division three with a midweek 46-4 win at Victoria Rangers.

The Warriors, in the midst of a gruelling schedule, now host Sharlston ‘A’ tomorrow (2.30pm) where another win would lift them into second place and bring them to within two points of leaders Thornhill ‘A’ with one game to go.

Treble-chasing Selby, who have lifted the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy and are also in the York & District Cup final, thrashed Victoria 94-4 on Saturday, but the Rangers team were an improved outfit for the rematch.

Paul Helstrip’s men still had too much for them, though, with tries coming from front-rower Jon Broadhurst (2), scrum-half Ben Pearson (2), winger Zennon Horrox, Shaun McMahon, full-back Chris O’Neill, prop Russ Anderson and centre Scott Pearson. Stand-off Ryan Eades (2) and Nick Weaver (3) added goals.

Scott Pearson was man of the match, with O’Neill and top tackler Eades also standing out.
