CHRIS SPAIN was the big winner at New Earswick All Blacks ARLC’s annual awards presentation.

Spain picked up the coaches player of the year gong and shared the players’ player of the season accolade with Max Bracken.

Jack Law was the top try scorer with 17 tries for the Pennine League division one side.

The most improved player of the season was Brian Wright.

The ‘A’ team’s most improved player was Lewis Pool.

Ben Cooper and Dean Smith shared the top try scorer award with seven tries for the Pennine League division four outfit.

Cooper also took the coaches’ player of the season award, while the players’ player of the season was Carl Fernandez.

The first team experienced a season of two halves as they won division one east to qualify for the championship. But they only picked up two more wins and finished fifth.

All Blacks reached the York and District Cup final, but lost 18-10 to Selby Warriors.

The New Earswick ‘A’ team, meanwhile, achieved their goal of staying up after gaining promotion the previous season.
