SELBY Warriors ARLC head coach Paul Helstrip has been appointed the club’s “director of coaching”.
Having coached the open age section to success, including back-to-back Pennine League promotions, his new role means he will now oversee the junior and youth sections.
Craig Hazell, Warriors’ co-ordinator, said: “Paul has been influential with the success of the open age section over the past four years and it is now time he refreshed his enthusiasm with some new challenges.
“Paul’s contribution has been immense and the club as a whole, with everybody that is involved, want to thank Paul for all his work so far and look forward to him working in his new role.”
The club has Under-12s and U14s teams competing in the Yorkshire juniors leagues and a new U16s team will play their first friendly game soon. Plans are afoot to start an U7s squad, while revitalising the U11s outfit.
The reorganisation means former player Kevin Fellows will take over the open age section, assisted by Helstrip’s number two Matt Stephenson.
