Malton & Norton RUFC have been dealt a huge blow with the news that player-coach Chris Creber has been ruled out for the rest of the season, writes Dale Harris.
The fly-half was stretchered off during the first half of his team’s 42-3 North One East defeat at Morley.
Club spokesmen Bill Laidler said: “It’s a serious knee injury.
“We’ll have to wait for the swelling to go down before we find out the extent of the damage.”
Malton had a number of players missing for last weekend’s defeat, but Laidler said: “Most of them should be back this week.”
Malton are ninth and travel to anchor club Durham City, winners just once this season.
The Gannock club have only won once in their last seven games, but Laidler stated: “We’re confident. It’s not a must-win yet but we need to start picking up results.”
Pocklington welcome back three players for their trip to Darlington. Tim Nixon, Dan Wilson and Matt Davies all return, but kicker Nick Bennett will be missing.
Pocklington are currently tenth in North One East with opponents Darlington second from bottom.
Meanwhile, York RI face the daunting prospect of welcoming Yorkshire Three leaders Old Rishworthians.
