BREATH-TAKING play powered Selby RUFC into the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Vase after they battered hosts Blyth 64-5.
Once Selby opened the scoring within nine minutes with a penalty from Steve Cruise they did not look back as the visitors produced an exhibition show of class and power.
Martin Protheroe bagged the first try, Cruise converting and though the latter missed a penalty, prop Andrew Pocklington went over for a rare try, the kick notched by Cruise.
A foot race brought another try for Dan Porter, Cruise again converting before Blyth countered with a try and a 28-5 half-time deficit.
The procession continued apace in the second half as winger Ben Lunt (2), man-of-the-match hooker Josh Greenfield, Porter with two more to complete his hat-trick, and substitute Iain Anderson all crossed.
Cruise kicked three of those second-half tries to clinch a home quarter-final for the Swans on Saturday, March 16.
