THE whole town is “buzzing” ahead of Selby RUFC’s historic Twickenham outing, according to coach Richard Nicholson.
More than 1,000 people are reported to be travelling down to London tomorrow to support the Swans in their RFU Senior Vase final clash with Drybrook (1pm kick off).
Nicholson said: “We are fully intending to go and win the game and pick up the trophy.
“I really think if we perform like we did last Saturday (when Selby sealed promotion from Yorkshire Two) we are capable of doing that, and I am very confident of doing that.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the day and the club. It’s gone wider than the first team group now.
“We took two or three hundred people down to Stourbridge for the semi-final, which far outnumbered their support even though we had to travel three or four hours to get there.
“There is a lot of interest from the community and the town. Some of our players have been getting asked in the street ‘when is it?’.
“It’s just wonderful that there has been such a buzz about the place.”
