A FOURTH consecutive win moved New Earswick All Blacks ARLC up to fourth in the Pennine League Championship table.

The White Rose Avenue side won 10-8 at Slaithwaite Saracens to maintain their recent surge.

The Huddersfield hosts took the lead in the first minute with an unconverted try, but the All Blacks narrowed the gap when scrum-half Tom Holmes converted a penalty midway through the half.

The All Blacks cranked up the pressure on the Slaithwaite line, but were unable to break through.

Slaithwaite extended their lead with an unconverted try to hold an 8-2 advantage at half-time.

The All Blacks levelled the scores five minutes into the second half when good handling down the line saw winger Dean Smith touching down in the left corner, with Holmes adding the touchline conversion. A penalty goal from Holmes gave the visitors the lead.

The remaining 20 minutes saw both sides probing, but the All Blacks managed to hang on.

The man of the match was loose forward Adam Kirby.

Sherburn Bears kept their division five title hopes alive with a 14-10 win at fourth-placed Wakefield City.

The win was vital for a Bears side currently in second place, six points adrift of leaders Kinsley Raiders with two games in hand.

Tom Speck and Ryan Smith provided the tries, while scrum-half Martin Leahy weighed in with two conversions and a penalty goal to give the Bears a crucial victory.

The Yorkshire Laser man of the match was Leahy.

Relegation-threatened Selby Warriors crashed 46-0 at Boothtown in division one.

Man-of-the-match Andy Rowe and captain Wayne Fennell played well in the difficult circumstances but the most pleasing aspect for the Warriors was the debut of 16-year-old forward Ben Copeland.

Selby Warriors ‘A’, of division seven, gave their best display of the season before going down 24-20 to division four side West Bowling ‘A’ in the Supplementary Cup first round.

Simon Baxter and Jason Dunwell scored tries as Selby built up a ten-point lead, but Bowling clawed their way back to lead after half-time.

Paul Scott dived over to equalise and, although Bowling broke away to go 18-14 up with ten minutes left, Selby stand-off Danny Milton went over in the corner.

Shaun Simpson booted his second goal from the touchline, but the visitors hit back to win.
