TOP of the table Ilkley will provide the perfect opponents for Selby RUFC to gauge their Yorkshire One progress.

The Sandhill Laners are unbeaten in 2014 and continued their climb up the table with a 25-10 victory at Heath last time out – a result which lifted the club into fourth place.

But the visit of Ilkley, who have lost only twice all season and have conceded the fewest number of points in the division, is a completely different prospect for head coach Richard Nicholson.

He believes accuracy, and taking chances, could be the key to pulling off a fantastic victory.

His team will have to do it without captain Duncan Hardy, who is unavailable tomorrow.

“We were slightly frustrated last week because we weren’t as accurate as we have been,” said Nicholson on the Heath win.

“We missed some opportunities to get a bonus point but if you get offered a win away from home then you grab it with both hands.

“This will be terribly difficult. We are under no illusions. This is one of the toughest games of the season. They are showing they deserve to be up there week in and week out. They grind out results and that’s the sign of a very good side.

“It’s a really big challenge.

“We will do our best. It will be a good test for us. We will see what level we are at. We have made some improvements through the season and this will be a good gauge.

“They key for us is that when we have got opportunities we have to take them. If we make line breaks, we must convert them.

“They don’t give anything away and it is a big test for our defence.”
