IT'S not yet a crisis, but there's no doubt Selby RUFC's recent form is causing a drama after the Sandhill Laners fell 34-27 at home to North Ribblesdale in Yorkshire Two.
It was Selby's second consecutive league defeat and their forwards came out second best in an encounter where both sides notched five tries apiece.
The visitors took advantage of a strong wind blowing down the pitch in the first half and pinned Selby back with the strong running.
Selby repelled the first wave and launched an offensive, but were unsuccessful with a penalty.
From the resulting drop out, out half Bartlett launched a massive length of the field kick to touch near Selby's goal line, a quick throw in was taken but as Selby full-back Rob Arnold shaped to kick, he was taken off the ball and centre Topham scooped up the ball and dived over.
This fired Selby up and a penalty was taken quickly by lively scrum-half Matt Smith who darted in to touch down and level the scores.
The Dalesmen were under the cosh until a breakout by Bartlett and Chapman fed No8 Howarth for a score under the posts.
Selby levelled when Smith charged down a kick and trotted under the sticks - giving Russ Dovey an easy conversion as the first-half finished.
Richards edged Ribb ahead early in the second half with a penalty but winger Sam Weller scored to put Selby in front.
Andy Gable and Mark Tomlinson then had to go off with injuries and the visitors dominated - stretching into an unassailable lead thanks to three unanswered tries and two conversions.
Although Selby fought back with two individual efforts by super scorer Shaun Austerfield, they were little more than a consolation.
