SECOND-PLACED York RI overcame tough Leeds Corinthians hosts to win 21-8 in Yorkshire Four.
RI started with purpose, battering the home line until Ewan Metcalfe crashed over for a Baptiste Brui converted try.
A slip handed Corinthians a penalty to trail 7-3, but RI bounced back with a superb Bren Aherne try, jinking past three defenders, and Brui’s kick made it 14-3 at the interval.
RI started the second half briskly with slick passing sending Andy Brentnall over in the corner, and Brui again converting.
Corinthians took advantage when RI had a player sin-binned to score in the corner.
RI have won eight of their nine Yorkshire Four games, but are nine points adrift of leaders Wetherby, who have won all nine of their fixtures.
