YORK RUFC turn their attention to cup matters tomorrow when they clash with Scarborough at Clifton Park in the quarter-final of the Yorkshire Shield, writes Steve Carroll.

The game has come at an inopportune time for York, who were looking to start resting players and blooding youngsters ahead of their North 2 East play-off match on April 28.

But the chance of getting their hands on silverware is too much for the Clifton Parkers to ignore and it is virtually a full-strength XV to take on their fellow Yorkshire One league opponents.

Dan Russell continues at wing in the absence of Billy Cakaunitabua, while Dan Reading starts in the front row in place of Simon Humphries.

Lock Brad MacDonald is on the bench and former skipper Andy Kay comes back at flanker ahead of Oli Councell, who drops to the substitutes.

Otherwise it is the same team which clinched second spot in Yorkshire One with a 11-3 win at Malton and Norton last time out.

Should they win through, the final league game of the season - at home to basement club Wheatley Hills - will act as a double-header with the cup, giving York an excellent chance to reach the final.
