POCKLINGTON RUFC play their annual game against a President's XV at Percy Road on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
Before the game there will be a minute's silence for former Pocklington 1st XV captain, club president and trustee, George Bowman, who died at the weekend aged 81.
He was one of four brothers to play for Pocklington - their father, Harold, was a Great Britain rugby league international - and he made his 1st XV debut for Pocklington as a 13-year old prop forward in 1938.
He went on to captain Pocklington for three seasons in the 1950s, including leading them in two Yorkshire Shield finals.
He later had a 15-year tenure as president - he tried to stand down several times but the membership would not let him.
Mr Bowman continued to have a keen interest in club affairs despite declining health, and watched the first team at Percy Road from his wheelchair earlier in the season.
His funeral takes place tomorrow at Pocklington Church at noon.
