York RI crashed out of the EDF Energy Junior Vase in disappointing style as they went down 34-5 at Barnsley in round six.
RI were 15-0 down at the break, despite putting Barnsley's defence under severe pressure at times.
The visitors started the second half strongly and, when they drove into the home side's half, a break was stopped short of the line, but the ball was recycled for Jon Alexander to crash over.
The try was not converted and, although RI pressed again, Barnsley struck the decisive blows.
The hosts scored two tries in as many minutes and, with both converted, the lead stretched to 29-5. An unconverted try ended the scoring.
