SELBY RUFC came close to upsetting table-topping hosts Sandal.
The Sandhill Laners went down 14-12 in an intense Yorkshire One duel, where the lead changed five times.
Sandal opened the scoring inside the first five minutes with a well taken penalty, but, with half-time close, Dan Porter levelled with a penalty.
But from a lineout the ball dropped to Sandal scrum half Max Whittingham to shoot through a gap to the line. After half-time, two Porter penalties put Selby in front. Both sides traded penalties before, late on, Sandal broke out and struck again.
