IT was the biggest defeat of the season for Nestlé Rowntree RUFC who slumped 36-0 against an Old Modernians Development side which has lost just once in the past two years.
Trees, fielding mainly a veteran side, trailed by just seven points at the interval - by which time their youthful hosts had opted for uncontested scrums which cancelled out Nestlé's major advantage at the set piece.
Rowntrees tried hard to get back into the game with powerful drives up the middle and were able to string together up to 15 phases at a time but this only won them the territorial battle.
Modernians tackled superbly and used their extra pace to break away for some spectacular scores - adding 17 points during 16 added minutes of extra time.
Trees were well served by locks Craig Wiltshire and Shaun West.
