NESTLE Rowntree RUFC were beaten by a solitary score in the final of the Phil Addy Associates tournament at Yarnbury.
’Trees finished top of their group to qualify for the final against army side Blues & Royals, who starved them of possession and won the game with a late try from a driving maul.
In the pool stages of the 15-a-side, ten minutes each way event, ’Trees defended superbly to ensure their opening game against Phil Addy All Stars was scoreless.
Against Yarnbury Veterans, prop Chris Todd seized on a charged down kick to touch down and seal a 5-0 win.
Nestlé were 3-0 down at half-time in their group game with Blues & Royals, but fought back to win 5-3 after Jack Gabbatiss raced away from halfway for a spectacular score.
