TEENAGER Rachel Lund is celebrating a call-up to the Women’s Rugby Football Union Under-18 talent development group.
The 16-year-old Malton & Norton RUFC ace has played representative rugby at county and regional level, but is now stepping up to the elite.
Lund is one of only 32 players across England – and the only Year 11 player – to be invited to join the U18 talent development group.
The development group programme is designed to provide the country’s leading young players with an individual, planned and progressive player development schedule.
Lund will receive core rugby skill development, game understanding, strength and conditioning, education and development.
A Malton spokesman said: “The club is very proud when any of our players is selected to represent their district, county or beyond.
“We are also immensely proud that we have managed to maintain ladies rugby at the club at U15 and U18 level for several years.
“Seeing six of the girls represent Yorkshire recently was fantastic, but for Rachel to gain recognition at a national level is the icing on the cake.”
