YORK RUFC can signal themselves as real Yorkshire One promotion contenders if they can see off Ilkley at Clifton Park tomorrow.
They may have been a little lucky to get the win last week against a Sandal side which played better than their form has suggested this season, but it will be six wins out of seven if York can do the business against an improving West Yorkshire outfit.
Only league leaders, and unbeaten, Pontefract have put York to the sword so far this year and the Clifton Parkers will be confident of getting a result against an Ilkley side they have already defeated once this season.
The two teams met in the first round of the Yorkshire Shield in early September, with York travelling and getting a 16-10 victory.
Rob Kama is still out for York but Billy Cakaunitabua returns to the side after being unavailable last week. Andy Kay moves from eight to six, but Kiwi prop Cory Wallace is out.
Phil Pateman is unavailable for Malton and Norton for their game against Bridlington at Duke's Park so George Mosey takes his place on the wing.
Selby return to Yorkshire Two league action at Sandhill Lane when they meet Ripon. Coach Diccon Edwards stands down at full back to be replaced by the fit again Rich Topping, while Ian Copperwheat replaces Martin Allchurch at prop.
Jason Cicero starts in the second row and there's a welcome return for Andy Gable to the bench following his shoulder injury.
Following their excellent 19-13 away win last week at Pocklington, Selby are joint top of the table with Leodiensians and should have little trouble against a Ripon side who recorded their only victory so far against York RI last week.
Pocklington meanwhile face another tough Yorkshire Two test when they travel to West Park Leeds. They are able to welcome back Tim Nixon on the wing, Tim Bolton in the centre and Sandy Mitchell, at stand-off, to bolster their back line.
With Sandy's return, brother Henry is switched inside to scrum half, a position he has previously played in junior rugby.
With West Park Leeds in third and Pock lying fourth, Saturday's encounter is a key game which the East Yorkshire club will be keen to win if they are to avoid a gap developing with the early promotion contenders.
Winless York RI face Heath at New Lane in Yorkshire Two action hoping to get their season off the ground.
But they're likely to find it tough against their former Yorkshire Three rivals, who have settled better to life in a higher league and sit in mid-table.
