YORK City midfielder Dan Pybus has departed the club to join Dorking Wanderers.
Pybus, who joined York at the beginning of last season, was absent from the City squad in their 1-1 draw with Aldershot Town on Saturday after reportedly refusing to play in the midweek 2-2 draw against Altrincham.
The midfielder has now departed the club to join fellow Vanarama National League side Dorking on a three-year deal.
Pybus began his career in the academy of Sky Bet Championship side Sunderland, before having spells with Bradford City, Bradford (Park Avenue), Blyth Spartans, Tonsberg in Norway, Queen of the South and Dunfermline in Scotland.
The 25-year-old joined York after their promotion to the National League, making 39 appearances last season and predominantly starting as a defensive midfielder.
Pybus also confirmed in an interview with Dorking that he held conversations with the club last week.
Speaking to the club website, Pybus said: "I spoke to Marc (White, Dorking manager) last week and he told me his plans for the club and sold his vision to me brilliantly.
"True to the character he is, he was also very tenacious! The club is only going in one direction which is up and I want to be part of that, I had multiple other offers on the table, but the gaffer's vision has ultimately sold this football club to me.
"I will always try my best for the manager and my team mates, will always look to get the team playing, and the supporters will get someone who will always work hard for them.
"I look forward to meeting everyone and getting going on Saturday!"
White also commented on adding Pybus to his squad, saying: "Dan is someone we kept an eye on last year; Ant Sheldon our chief scout highlighted his stats as one of the leading midfielders in the National League, and we are absolutely delighted with his commitment to us and vice-versa, joining us on a three year deal.
"Dan is going to bring a real freshness to our team, a lot of energy and aggression, and is very much part of the new era we are embarking upon here at Dorking Wanderers.
"A central midfielder who can play anywhere in that area of the field, we fought off a lot of competition to get Dan's signature and very much look forward to him joining up with the squad imminently."
Pybus will wear the kit number four for his new side, and will be involved in the squad for York's trip to Meadowbank this Saturday, August 26 (3pm).
