YORK City manager Neal Ardley vented his frustrations at the Minstermen's 2-0 defeat to Oldham Athletic, and was disappointed with his sides lack of creativity in the final third.
Ardley's side failed to threaten Oldham regularly and defensive errors saw the Latics claim an important three points, after goals from Joe Nuttall and Alex Reid.
The York manager was disappointed that his side hadn't worked their magic in the final third, and insisted that there was lots to work on ahead of City's trip to Woking on Saturday, September 23 (12:30pm).
"When you come away from home, you have to do the nitty gritty." Ardley told BBC Radio York.
"Not make any mistakes, not give the crowd a chance to get behind their team, and we didn't do that seven minutes in.
"We don't go and attack the first header, we should really see the ball out and do our jobs and we don't.
"Then we're 1-0 down. I thought for the majority of the rest of the game we did a lot of good stuff in our passing back into midfield and into the final third.
"But I've just said to the boys there that we didn't create enough.
"They want to play this way as it's more enjoyable than it perhaps was before, and we can get them into the final third and into those areas.
"We've got to be more expressive, they can't be shooting off balance when it's not on to shoot, they've got to make the extra pass, they've got to be braver.
"If they want to be creative players then they've got to do that, because today we didn't create enough.
"We made two errors that cost us, and in between that we controlled most of the game.
"Crookesy was absolutely superb on Saturday and was superb for 90 per cent of today, we don't do blame culture.
"I'm not going to dig people out for making mistakes, we win as a team and we lose as a team.
"We can defend like we did on Saturday better with no mistakes and are braver with our forward play, with our attacking players taking more risks.
"In the end I just thought that in the final third and in their half, the players that we needed to do their magic, didn't do their magic.
"They rushed things, took things off balance, didn't trust each other or make that final pass and it's stuff we've got to work on.
"I'm two weeks in and I don't want to stand here and say there's loads of positives because we've lost the game."
