BROMLEY manager Andy Woodman is expecting York City to 'only get better' with Neal Ardley in charge in the coming weeks.
Woodman's side claimed a late point at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon after Josh Passley's 95th minute equaliser, cancelling out Dipo Akinyemi and Lenell John-Lewis' earlier goals.
The Bromley boss felt that Akinyemi's opener was offside and that his side were below par, and admitted that if he was a York supporter then he would have been gutted to lose out on a potential victory.
“I’ve got to be really honest, if I was York I would be gutted." Woodman told the Bromley media team.
"We don’t get many last minute goals, so I felt we was due that a little bit so I’ll take it.
"We shouldn’t lose sight, we started a really good run with a draw away from home so we’ve got to look at it as it is.
"It’s a draw away from home at a place that will only get better with Neal Ardley in charge. It’s a point on the road.
“I thought we was poor in the first-half, and when I say poor I mean poor with the ball.
"We need to be better, we were moving the ball with very little purpose.
"I didn’t think there was a lot in it in the first-half, apart from the linesman not giving an offside for an offside goal in my opinion.
"We haven’t got VAR so we have to take it on the chin, but he’s got that decision wrong.
“The goals we conceded were poor goals by our standards, the first one, offside or not, I don’t encourage my team to play offsides.
"That was something we don’t do, and the second goal it’s just a cross into the box, he’s got above his man and put it in.
"I’m disappointed at that, I’m disappointed how we ran the game in the first half, but in the second half we had a little more purpose to what we were doing.
"We had a little more bite, it’s really hard when a team sits back and you’re trying to force the game to get a result.
"The guys kept going it until the end, and I said that if you put the ball into the box you’ll get a reward.
"We’ve done that, we’ve put the ball into the box a lot today.
“I’d be devastated if that was us, but it’s football and that’s why this league is relentless.
"We shouldn’t lose sight, we’ve had a tough week with travelling to Chesterfield, getting home late and travelling up here to York yesterday.
"It’s hard, it’s two tough away trips in a week. But we’ve got to be better and we know that."
