EASTLEIGH assistant manager Jason Bristow felt his side were deserving of three points over York City after a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
A sensational strike from Chris Maguire was capped off by a brace from Paul McCallum, rendering Callum Howe's first goal for York as just a consolation, with the Spitfires enjoying three points on home soil.
Bristow felt it could have been a different story if York had taken their chances, with Aiden Marsh and Ryan Fallowfield seeing huge opportunities squandered, but felt it was Eastleigh's first-half performance that made the difference.
“It was a very, very good first half, I thought it was as good as we have played in the first half." Bristow told the Eastleigh media team.
"We looked a hard team to break down, our shape was good, we moved possession and we created some good chances before scoring a fantastic goal.
"In the second half we didn’t quite get to the same rhythm we did in the first, we conceded a couple of chances that they will be disappointed to have not scored from.
"It will be a different story for them, but credit to the players they deserved the win in the end."
Bristow was also pleased with the impact of striker McCallum, who scored two goals to sink City on their longest away trip of the season.
“It was probably against the run of play a little bit was his first goal, but it was a great finish and a typical Macca goal.
"There were lots of performances today that I thought were very good individually.
"Collectively overall, it was a good day."
