A YORK City duo have been named in the Vanarama National League Team of the Half Season.
Both Dipo Akinyemi and Ryan Fallowfield have been recognised by the league for their efforts for York so far, receiving positions in the Team of the Half Season, which is made up of players who have impressed in the first-half of the campaign.
The team was produced after a stage of nominations which led to supporters voting on who deserves a spot in the team, with Akinyemi and Fallowfield leading their categories.
Fallowfield received an impressive 61 per cent of the 666 votes, beating Chesterfield’s Liam Mandeville, Southend United’s Gus Scott-Moriss and Boreham Wood’s Erico Sousa to the position.
Akinyemi was one of three categories of strikers, coming up against Eastleigh’s Scott Quigley, Aldershot Town’s Jack Barham and James Norwood of Oldham Athletic.
But it was the York striker who earned 37 per cent of the 82 votes, earning himself a spot in the team.
Former City shot-stopper Ethan Ross was also in the team after being voted as the league’s leading goalkeeper, with no other York players nominated throughout the squad.
The full team: Ross (Altrincham), Fallowfield (York City), Grimes (Chesterfield), Ebanks-Landell (Rochdale), Beckwith (Maidenhead United), Banks (Chesterfield), Naylor (Chesterfield), Stokes (Aldershot Town), Cheek (Bromley), Grigg (Chesterfield), Akinyemi (York City)
Elsewhere, a former City winger was named in the Vanarama National League North Team of the Half Season, with Justin Johnson being named after his efforts with Chorley.
Justin featured for York in the 2016/17 season when joining on loan from Scottish side Dundee United, making five appearances for the Minstermen.
