YORK City defender Scott Barrow has joined Vanarama National League North outfit Darlington on a loan deal until the end-of-the-season.
Barrow will re-unite with former York boss Steve Watson, who joined Darlington on New Year's Eve, and is available for Darlington's match with King's Lynn Town on Saturday, January 6 (3pm).
The left-back continues to recover from his long-term ACL injury that saw Barrow miss out on the entirety of the 2022/23 Vanarama National League season, having made his return to action against Guisborough Town in the North Riding Senior Cup.
Barrow sustained the injury whilst playing in the National League North play-off final victory over Boston United in the 2021/22 season, as City secured a 2-0 victory to reach England's fifth tier.
Barrow joins a Darlington outfit that are currently struggling in 23rd position of the National League North, after three consecutive defeats to end December.
The 35-year-old was also briefly part of Michael Morton's backroom staff last season, and helped the club out during uncertain times.
Barrow began his career in the academy of Swansea City, but failed to ever make an appearance before being released by the Swans aged 17.
He found football in Wales with Port Talbot Town, making over 100 appearances before joining Tamworth.
A serious knee injury disrupted his time with the Lambs, before going onto have stints with Newport County, Macclesfield Town, Merthyr Town, Gateshead and eventually York.
Speaking on the move, manager Watson said: "Scott was my captain at Gateshead and he then followed me to York.
"He is a very experienced player and capable of playing left back, left centre half or left wing back.
"He’s a good defender but also has good quality going forward and has the ability to create and score goals, which in our situation is vital.”
