YORK City have bolstered their defence with the signing of left-back Danny Amos.
The 24-year-old arrives at the LNER Community Stadium on loan until the end of the season from Sky Bet League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
A Northern Ireland international at youth level, Amos will provide valuable cover for Thierry Latty-Fairweather, with Levi Andoh ruled out for the season, Scott Barrow gaining game time with Darlington, and Adam Crookes preferred at centre back as of late.
The Sheffield-born defender initially began his career with Doncaster Rovers, making 14 league appearances before departing in summer 2021.
During that time, he also clocked up seven Vanarama National League appearances on loan at Hartlepool in 2019.
Following his Rovers departure, Amos enjoyed a short stint with Port Vale, making three appearances for the Valiants in the EFL Trophy after impressing on a trial stint.
Then joining Grimsby in January 2022, he was a part of the Mariners side that gained promotion from the National League, signing a one-year deal following their Football League return.
In total, he has made 66 appearances for the Lincolnshire club across both the National League and League Two.
A regular for the Mariners last season, Amos scored his first goal for the club in their Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round replay triumph against Luton Town at Blundell Park last February.
The defender has featured 14 times for Grimsby in League Two this season, but has found game time limited over recent months, his last appearance coming in their 2-2 draw at Forest Green Rovers in November.
Absolutely delighted to be here!! Can’t wait to get started! See you saturday😅🔴 https://t.co/1C1MmgYsb1
