HEREFORD boss Paul Caddis has confirmed that it was his decision to let Maziar Kouhyar return to York City from his recent loan spell with the Bulls.
Kouhyar joined Vanarama National League North Hereford on a one-month loan deal in mid-January, returning to the Bulls for a second spell with the club.
York confirmed on Friday morning that Kouhyar had returned to the club after making five appearances under Caddis, who confirmed that the decision not to extend the winger's loan was due to a change in formation that his Hereford side had adopted.
Caddis went on to praise the attitude of Kouhyar, but a suspension handed to Bulls winger Lassana Mendes and multiple injuries meant that Hereford had opted to no longer use wingers in their starting eleven.
"Onto some football decisions and without going into more detail than what’s needed there has been a few players come and go," Caddis explained in an open letter to Hereford supporters.
"Maz is a fantastic lad who has a top attitude. He was really unfortunate we lost both wingers and forced into a different shape.
"After the suspension of Lassana Mendes we just felt with the change in formation it would have been unfair to keep Maz for another month if we couldn’t quite get him in his favoured position.
"All players want to play regular football and I don’t promise anyone regular game time. That’s not how I manage.
"Football changes so quickly and after beating Blyth Spartans 5-2 a few weeks ago, my first thought was the next game we’d likely have three players not in the matchday squad.
"Fast forward 10 days and we had a few injuries and 2 suspensions.
"We have tried to bring players in but it’s really important and I prefer the method of walking to the right decision and not sprinting to the wrong one.
"We will look to strengthen in the areas that we are a bit thin in, but the battles are ongoing with that and we are only able to shop in a certain market.
"I have made good decisions and I have made some rubbish decisions but it’s always been with the best intentions of the football club."
