JASON Goodliffe's loan spell at York City may be due to end but, at least, he will have a Press Player of the Month award to remember his stay by should he return to Stevenage or move on.

The 32-year-old defender has given sterling service during his three-month loan spell and his performances in December have seen him follow in the footsteps of previous winners this season Clayton Donaldson (August), Darren Craddock (September), Luke Foster (October) and Martyn Woolford (November).

Goodliffe finished level on points with fellow centre back David McGurk in the standings.

But he pipped his team-mate by virtue of receiving more Press man-of-the-match accolades in December.

Here is a rundown of how the points towards both the Press Player of the Year and Player of the Month contests have been distributed in City's last three games: Halifax - Donaldson 3, McGurk 2, Neal Bishop 1; Woking - McGurk 3, Bishop 2, Woolford 1; Morecambe - Steve Bowey 3, Bishop 2, Anthony Lloyd 1.

Fans' favourite Bishop also received the most readers' votes for top City man against Morecambe and Woking, pocketing the two bonus points on offer towards the monthly award for both games.

Bishop also received another point after topping the supporters' poll jointly with Donaldson against Halifax.

All entrants will then be considered for the chance of presenting the Player of the Month winner with his award on the pitch before a Minstermen home game.
