YORK CITY KNIGHTS boss Gary Thornton expressed his delight with a home draw against Doncaster in the Northern Rail Cup.
The Knights entertain the South Yorkshire outfit at Huntington Stadium in the first knockout round of the competition on Sunday, May 19.
Thornton said: “If you had asked what I would have liked beforehand it was a home draw. That’s good news for us. We haven’t played them yet so it will be an interesting one.
“It would be nice to get a good crowd in. We need to get some people coming through the doors. It’s certainly a winnable game with the way we have been playing at home and you’d have to say we would be favourites for it.
“I am really pleased with that draw. It could have been a whole lot worse – one of the big four or five away from home.”
The full Northern Rail Cup draw: Featherstone Rovers v Leigh Centurions, Sheffield Eagles v Barrow Raiders, Workington Town v Hunslet Hawks, Dewsbury Rams v Halifax, Keighley Cougars v Batley Bulldogs, Swinton Lions v North Wales Crusaders, London Skolars v Whitehaven, YORK CITY KNIGHTS v Doncaster.
Ties to be played on Sunday, May 19.
