YOUNG prop Toby Williams steps into the breech at Barrow tomorrow insisting York City Knights can turn the tables on the high-flying Raiders.
The big-spending Cumbrians knocked York out of the Northern Rail Cup six days ago with an 18-16 win at Huntington Stadium, and they are likely to have a stronger squad for tomorrow's Co-op National League Two encounter with four players returning from injury.
But Williams reckons the Knights have it in them to gain quick revenge.
"It will be difficult, especially up in there spot in Cumbria, but it's a game we know we can win if we make sure we do everything right," he said.
The Knights have begun the league campaign with two defeats from three games, stuttering form which has hit hopes of an immediate promotion back up to National League One.
But Williams added: "We've still got a good chance. I think we just need to concentrate on each game as it comes instead of trying to look too far ahead.
"When we start clicking we will do all right.
"We need to get certain things right on the pitch and things will start going for us."
The 20-year-old returns to the first team in place of Joe Helme, who, as revealed by The Press, sensationally demanded to leave the club this week and has been demoted to the under-21s team. Another prop, Ryan MacDonald, was already ruled out with a broken arm.
Williams is obviously glad to be playing but says winning his place purely on merit is his desire.
He explained: "I would prefer it if we had a fully-fit squad because it would mean I was doing well rather than being selected because other players are injured or whatever."
Rumour has it that Helme is not happy with the amount of game-time he is getting in the first team. Williams, on the other hand, says he is content at York having joined in the off-season after four years with Keighley Cougars.
"I'm learning a lot more than I was at Keighley," he said. "The coaches are helping a lot with my defence and with other parts of my game that I was struggling with.
"I think I'm getting better but I've still got bits I need to work on. I want to improve with every game and do well over the season."
