YORK Knights' Danny Kirmond has been nominated for the Rugby Football League Impact Performance Try of the Week.

Kirmond crossed for a brace of tries inside the opening 10 minutes of the Knights' 24-22 triumph against Championship rivals Sheffield Eagles in the Fourth Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup on Sunday lunchtime before being controversially sent off, with the latter of his scores shortlisted.

The veteran second-rower ran forward from the halfway line in support of half-back Liam Harris, who offloaded for the 37-year-old to cross unchallenged to the right of the sticks.

He faces stiff competition for the accolade, including from a Betfred Super League trio in Wigan Warriors' Abbas Miski, Catalans Dragons' 'feathered Frenchman' Arthur Mourgue and Huddersfield Giants prop Owen Trout.

Cory Aston, who was the grateful recipient of a bursting run from outside back Jason Bass as Sheffield fought back in the second half, has also seen his try nominated.

Fans can vote for their Try of the Week via the Our League app.

The Knights return to Championship action against Keighley Cougars at the LNER Community Stadium on Good Friday, April 7 (7:30pm), with the club offering members of the NHS and Blue Light Card holders free tickets for the fixture.
