YORK KNIGHTS second-rower Danny Kirmond has been charged by the RFL after his red card against Sheffield Eagles last Sunday.

Kirmond has been charged with a Grade D Strikes charge, which carries a three-match suspension.

The veteran was dismissed by referee James Vella for a late tackle on Cory Aston in the sides' Betfred Challenge Cup Fourth Round tie at the LNER Community Stadium last weekend, a decision which was not without controversy.

The 37-year-old has until Tuesday to appeal the charge.

Kirmond will still be available to face Keighley Cougars in their Betfred Championship clash tomorrow (7:30pm), but would miss the Knights' Championship matches against Halifax Panthers on Sunday, April 16, and London Broncos on Sunday, May 7, as well as their Challenge Cup Fifth Round tie at home to Newcastle Thunder on Friday, April 21.

The second-rower has already served a one-match suspension this season, missing York's 40-0 thrashing of newly-promoted Swinton Lions on March 5 after being charged with a striking charge against Toulouse Olympique in February.
