YORK Knights head coach Andrew Henderson has admitted he 'totally understands' Wakefield Trinity's decision to recall Oli Pratt for the Challenge Cup weekend.
Pratt will be absent for York's match with London Broncos on Sunday (3pm), after parent club Wakefield opted to recall the youngster from his spell with the Knights for one weekend only.
Henderson admitted he is in agreement with the decision, as Pratt would have been cup-tied for the Knights anyways.
"I spoke to Mark Applegarth early in the week, he just informed me that they were recalling Oli with it being Challenge Cup week and that he would have been cup-tied.
"I totally understand that, can't argue with that. They're really happy with how he's progressing here with us in terms of his development and he said that he'll be back with you next weekend no problem.
"That could change if they take a number of injuries in their game this weekend, it could change and we've always got to be ready for that.
"But the plan is for him to return and be with us from next week onwards."
Conor Barley is another player who has been recalled from his loan spell with the Knights, and Henderson confessed that it would be a permanent recall for the time being.
"For now it is." Henderson confirmed.
Henderson also provided an update on the situation with Ata Hingano, who was substituted at half-time in Sunday's victory over Newcastle Thunder.
The Knights head coach also confirmed that Pauli Pauli was back doing some running, whilst continuing to recover from a long-term ACL injury.
"We're just assessing him at the moment, he came off with a bit of a hamstring. We're just having a look at that at the moment.
"I'm not going to discuss too much on injuries, it seems to be a bit of a commentary every week!
"The reality is that we do have some people on the sidelines that aren't too far away, we've got potentially a player coming back this week and we have picked up a couple of knocks at the weekend and we're assessing those at the moment.
"Whether or not if they will be available for selection this week, we'll know more by the end of the week.
"We'll have to wait until Sunday and see what team we have out there, you'll know by then whose missing from injury and whose not.
"[Pauli Pauli] is dealing with an ACL injury and with these some people recover quicker than others.
"It's one of those where some people can recover around the nine month mark, others take 12 months, it all depends on their stages of progression as they try to rehabilitate it and strengthen it and stuff.
"He is back running now, which is a positive, but I couldn't tell you how far off he is going to be."
