WIGAN Warriors loanees Adam Jones and Reagan Sumner have been thrust straight into Andrew Henderson’s York Knights squad ahead of Sunday's Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Final against Leigh Leopards (5pm).

The young duo will bolster the Knights at full-back, half-back and centre - the latter position in which they lost both James Glover and Jesse Dee to knee and finger injuries against Sheffield Eagles seven days ago.

There is however no place for prop Brenden Santi, who has linked up with Henderson for the second time following his move from fellow Betfred Championship outfit Keighley Cougars earlier this week.

Winger Olly Butterworth, who crowned his York debut with a hat-trick of tries against London Broncos last month, is also unlikely to feature after a knee injury.

The Knights will be looking to cause an upset against the Betfred Super League high-fliers, who are enjoying a fruitful season back in the sport's top flight following victory in last year's Million Pound Game.

An eight-match unbeaten run has propelled Adrian Lam's side up to third place, with winger Josh Charnley topping the division's try-scoring charts with 18.

The sides' previous meetings do not make comfortable reading for York fans, with their three matches last year seeing the Knights on the wrong end of a 40-4 defeat and 100-4 thrashing in the regular season, before their 70-10 loss in the Play-Offs.

Lam explained that it was a challenging week for his side, and hoped that they would continue to play to their high standards of late at York.

"York have earned the right to be here, we are anticipating a tough game," he said.

“We will make the decision on Saturday about our team, but I’m hoping there will be a couple of changes in there.”

York Knights' preliminary squad: Olly Butterworth, Ben Barnard, Joe Brown, Chris Clarkson, James Cunningham, Josh Daley, Jesse Dee, Oli Field, Conor Fitzsimmons, Myles Harrison, Ata Hingano, Adam Jones, Will Jubb, Jon Luke Kirby, Ronan Michael, Harry Price, Reagan Sumner, Ukuma Ta'ai, Jack Teanby, AJ Towse, Brad Ward.
