YORK Knights head coach Andrew Henderson has admitted he is not aware of anything amid rumours linking Danny Kirmond with a return to Wakefield Trinity next season.
A former captain at the Betfred Super League club, Kirmond spent eight years at Wakefield before joining the Knights in 2021 and moving into a player/assistant coach role for 2023.
The veteran second-rower has scored five times in 14 appearances for York this season, including a brace against Sheffield Eagles in the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Injuries and suspension have kept Kirmond sidelined for periods over the last three months, with Henderson not shying away from helping the 37-year-old to develop his coaching on matchdays.
Wakefield have been searching for a new addition to their coaching set-up following the departure of former York boss James Ford to Betfred Championship table-toppers Featherstone Rovers earlier this season, but Henderson admits that he knows nothing of reports suggesting that Kirmond will reunite with head coach Mike Applegarth next year.
“The first I heard about it was yesterday,” Henderson revealed. “I’m not aware of anything about Danny Kirmond joining Wakefield.
“He’s not spoken to me about it, so I’m not aware of anything.
“I just got sent something yesterday from an online platform that someone sent me through to say ‘have you heard this?’. I’m not aware of anything there so I don’t know if there’s any truth in that.”

Having made 173 appearances over two spells at the West Yorkshire club, Henderson admitted that there would always be rumours hinting at the back-rower’s return.
“What you’ve got to understand with Danny is that he’s a former Wakefield player,” he stated.
“I know that he was offered a position there for this season, prior to him resigning with York.
“Obviously he played for Wakefield for a long time so he’s got a connection with that club. There’s obviously going to be rumours circulating that he’s going to return.
“But as far as I’m aware, and as far as us as a club are aware, we know nothing about it.”
