NEITHER Davy Litten nor Franklin Pele will feature for York Knights against Widnes Vikings on Sunday (3pm).

Head coach Andrew Henderson had been hopeful of extending the Hull FC pair's time at the club upon the expiration of their initial two-week loans from the Betfred Super League strugglers, however that has not proved to be the case.

Full-back Litten -who had to be replaced by Will Dagger during the first half of their astonishing 30-22 victory at Swinton Lions last weekend due to a facial injury - has been included in Simon Grix’s 21-man preliminary squad to face Huddersfield Giants this evening.

That now leaves the Knights with a headache at full-back, with Dagger failing a HIA, Myles Harrison injured and Alex Donaghy still at dual registration partners Newcastle Thunder, with winger Joe Brown likely to start in the position for the first time since their 50-6 hammering by Wakefield Trinity in mid-April.

Dagger, Litten and Pele are the only changes to Henderson’s preliminary squad this weekend, with Harvey Reynolds, Jack Teanby and Jack Potter re-instated in their places.

Former Hull KR youngster Potter could make his Knights debut against the Vikings, having permanently joined dual registration partners Newcastle Thunder after spending his pre-season with Henderson’s side.

Second-rower Oli Field could also feature for the first time since mid-April after a respiratory issue that forced him off 20 minutes into their defeat to Wakefield.

Henderson opted to test the youngster's condition at Newcastle last weekend, with the former Leeds Rhinos talent making it through the entirety of their 24-18 home loss to Rochdale Hornets.

"Oli Field got through 80 minutes with Newcastle at the weekend, so that was a real positive," the head coach enthused.

“He didn’t have any issues in that game that we were concerned about, he’s pulled through really good. He’s potentially available and back in contention this week."

York Knights squad to face Widnes Vikings: Bailey, Brown, Daley, Dee, Field, Fitzsimmons, Harris, Hingano, Jubb, Keinhorst, Michael, Pemberton, Potter, Reynolds, Santi, Severs, Ta’ai, Teanby, Thompson, Towse, Ward.
