MARK APPLEGARTH has overseen his first signing as York Knights Head Coach, with Joe Law joining on a loan deal until the end of the 2024 season.
Law joins York from fellow Betfred Championship side Wakefield Trinity, who celebrated lifting the AB Sundeck's 1895 Cup victory at Wembley Stadium earlier this season.
The 20-year-old began his rugby journey with Stanley Rangers in 2011, where he represented the Outwood Grange rugby team for the Australia Rugby Tour, earning the Most Valuable Player award.
Law soon completed a switch to Oulton Rangers in 2014, where he would remain for the next six years.
After impressing for Oulton, Law joined the Wakefield Trinity Scholarship team in 2018, featuring for the West Yorkshire outfit for two years before progressing to the Wakefield Trinity Academy squad in 2020.
Law's impressive performances for Wakefield saw the youngster sign first-team forms in 2022, before making his Trinity debut in June 2023 against Betfred Super League giants Leeds Rhinos.
Prior to his debut for the first-team, Law gained attention after scoring a full-length try when featuring at centre against Leeds under-19's, playing at just 17-years-old.
Friday's deadline for transfers means that any business for the Knights must be complete before then, as Applegarth adds his first new face since taking the reigns in early June, with the deal for Sam Cook lined up prior to his arrival.
