YORK Knights utility Sam Cook is a potential doubt for Sunday's clash with basement side Dewsbury Rams (3pm) after picking up a knock during their 38-18 defeat at Halifax Panthers.

The Knights will be hoping to repeat the feat of their 40-0 demolition of the Rams in June as they seek to record a fourth consecutive win in front of their home crowd.

Cook has been one of the Knights' most consistent performers since his mid-season switch from Racing Club Albi, scoring five times in six appearances under Mark Applegarth.

Initially turning out at hooker, the Kiwi has grabbed his opportunity in the halves with both hands over recent weeks after captain Liam Harris' potentially season-ending hamstring injury.

And he was instrumental in Jacob Gannon's first Knights try at The Shay, breaking through the Panthers' defence before finding the Leigh Leopards loanee to score to the left of the posts.

The 31-year-old had ice strapped to his leg following the full-time hooter, with Applegarth admitting: "There's a question mark on Sam Cook. He pulled up right at the end, so we need to have a look at him.

"Ata [Hingano] has a cut on his forehead, but apart from that, I think he's okay."

Fellow nine Will Jubb is also nursing injury, seen watching on from the sidelines with a heavily bandaged elbow.

Having surpassed 150 appearances for the Knights last season, he has found game time harder to find this year, with Josh Daley, James Cunningham and Taylor Pemberton also able to turn out at hooker.

"He's got a bit of an infection in his elbow," the Knights boss confirmed. "We're hoping that settles down quickly.

"Jubby is a quality player who was unlucky not to play today, so we're hoping that settles down and it's not too bad."
