MARK APPLEGARTH has named one change to his York Knights preliminary squad ahead of the final day of the Betfred Championship season.

The Knights will conclude their normal season with a return to home soil, as Featherstone Rovers visit the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday, September 29 (3pm).

A win for York would confirm their spot in the upcoming Championship play-offs, with Applegarth’s side currently occupying fourth position on 28 points.

Their challengers on the day will be Featherstone, who also have play-off aspirations in fifth position, level on points with the Knights.

Applegarth has named one change from the York side that battled to a 26-24 victory over Sheffield Eagles eight days ago, with the Knights on the hunt for a seventh win in eight matches, having took a minor hit against the champions Wakefield Trinity.

Jacob Gannon has dropped out of the 21-man squad, with Jack Teanby as the only change in the York squad.

Sam Cook is also involved after acting as the Knights’ water boy last Friday, having initially being ruled out for the remainder of the season, but recovering earlier than expected as a boost for York.

Applegarth confirmed to the Press that Cook would now be available for selection, whilst Will Dagger remains absent, with the match unfortunately coming too soon.

AJ Towse is also involved despite recovering from his concussion protocols.
