YORK Knights assistant coach Ged Corcoran has named his long-haul Ireland squad.
Ireland will take on Scotland in an Autumn international, with Corcoran returning to his duties with his country after the conclusion of York’s 2024 Betfred Championship season.
The match will take place on October 27 at the Gateshead International Stadium (2pm) with the squad set to be shortened down to 24 players.
Amongst the squad, Corcoran has included departing Knights Ronan Michael, who is set to join Bradford Bulls for the 2025 season.
Michael had made 77 appearances for York and played a part as the Knights reached the Championship play-off semi-finals, before falling short at Wakefield Trinity.
He was announced to be leaving the club in late August, joining Will Jubb, AJ Towse, Nikau Williams and Josh Daley in exiting for pastures new.
Also included in the Ireland squad is Brendan O’Hagan, who currently plays for the Entrance Tigers in Australia.
O’Hagan represented the Knights from 2021 to 2022, making 27 appearances and registering 12 tries from the hooker position.
He left for Wynnum Manly Seagulls for the 2023 season before making the switch to the Entrance Tigers, having had previous spells with Newcastle Jets, Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers previously.
Corcoran has also included another former Knights in his squad, with Tom Nicholson-Watton earning a call-up to the Ireland squad.
The Leeds Rhinos prop began the 2024 season on loan with York, making his debut in the opening day defeat at newly-promoted Doncaster.
He has gone on to find regular game time in the Betfred Super League with Leeds, and is being rewarded with his efforts after working with Corcoran earlier in the campaign.
